MAKING THOSE RESOLUTIONS/GOALS STICK

Set your goals based on your values, not on what you should or must do. Then success will come more naturally.
Eliminate recurring goals. Drop any goals you’ve set several times and not accomplished, e.g. lose 25 pounds in four months. Or, redefine them to make them more doable and attractive, e.g., join a weight loss program to keep my weight at 150 pounds.
Make goals specific and measurable. If there’s no clear finish line, how will you know when you’ve succeeded?
Focus on what you want, e.g., feel healthy and attractive, not what you don’t want, e.g., not feel tired. Energy follows thought, so you attract what you focus on.
Make your physical environment reflect what you want more of. If you want to save more, put those credit cards away for emergency use only. If you want to eat healthier foods, make sure that’s all you have in the house. You get the idea.
Identify what might stop you from succeeding and how to get support. Anticipating possible obstacles helps prepare you to handle them. Get a coach to stay on track.
Visualize the benefits of each goal. Imagine what it will look and feel like when you attain that goal.
